How Ski Vacations Became Our Family Tradition

Just a few years ago, no one in our family had ever skied. Now, it's a winter highlight we all look forward too. Our oldest son, now 10, asked about trying something new during winter break. We'd typically spend our holidays cozying up indoors, but his curiosity sparked an idea. Why not break the routine and embark on an adventure as a family?

At first, the idea seemed daunting. None of us had ever skied before, and the logistics of all the gear, the travel, and thought of hurtling down snow-covered mountains was exhilarating and terrifying. But with a sense of determination, we decided to go for it. We booked our first ski vacation at a family-friendly resort and counted down the days until our departure.

When we got there, we were all in awe of how beautiful the scenery was. The cold mountain air was rejuvinating and we were excited to tackle the slopes.

Learning to ski as a family was an adventure in itself. We found a great instructor to help us, and we stumbled and fell countless times. The kids couldn’t stop laughing each time my husband or I fell, but we helped each other up and cheered on every small victory. It wasn't long before we each our rhythm, gliding down the bunny slopes with newfound confidence and skill.

Away from the distractions of daily life, we connected on a deeper level, sharing stories and creating memories. Whether carving down a hill or cozying up in the lodge after a long day on the slopes, every moment was special.

Now, our kids who are now 8 and 10, expertly navigate the mountains alongside us, I can't help but feel a sense of pride and gratitude. Skiing has become more than just a hobby – it's a shared passion that brings us closer together with each passing year.

I'm so grateful for our family's decision to embrace the snow and learn to ski together. I hope as the kids grow into adults, we can continue this tradition for years and years to come.
