Growing By Gardening

There’s something magical about getting your hands dirty in the garden. It’s not just about the plants; it’s about finding some calm in a chaotic world. Let me tell you about my journey with gardening and how it became my source of peace.

Picture this: me, stressed out, anxious, and desperately seeking a break from the madness of everyday life. I was working long hours, and feeling so exhausted by the time I got home I’d crash on the couch to Netflix and chill. Luckily, one of the shows I binged was about our food sources and all the chemicals we are consuming. That's when I got the idea of starting to garden as a way to grow some of my own food. Little did I know, that decision would bloom into something beautiful.

I was surprised with how natural it felt as I was setting up my first garden. The earthy scent, the gritty texture—it felt familiar and soothing. Soon, my plants started to grow, and it was incredible to watch the progress and know that it was all happening because of me.

But it wasn’t just about watching the grow; it was about the process itself—the mindful act of watering, weeding, and nurturing each plant with care. In those moments, I found myself fully present, my worries melting away as I became attuned to nature.

There’s a certain kind of peace that settles over you when you’re knee-deep in the garden. It’s a quiet kind of joy, a sense of quiet contentment.

My garden has grown, and over the years I believe gardening has taught me patience, resilience, and above all, gratitude for the little things in life. So, if you ever find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the chaos of the world, I urge you to take a step outside, breathe in the fresh air, and plant something. You might just find the peace and clarity you’ve been searching for right in your own backyard.
